Let's get straight into the GM commands that you can use in-game on your <a href="https://zremax.com/wow-private-servers" target="_blank" rel="author">WoW Private Server</a>. The WoW GM commands are based on TrinityCore. If you don't know what TrinityCore is, don't worry. Most of these commands will work right out the bat by default.

We've made a detailed and useful guide to help you get started on exactly what you need, and we've made sure to make it user friendly.

This guide is well suited if you want a server that you can either play on alone, with your family, friends, or the local community. We do not recommend this for a "big" and public private server. The reason is simply due to the requirements. If you need to make an official private server, it is much more advanced, and you will also need basic coding knowledge (or know people who do). That is however not necessary if you just want a World of Warcraft GM Server for yourself/lan/friends.

Let's get started making your own free WoW server!

You need to download a wow repack for your server. A World of Warcraft Repack is basically a "simplified" version of your own server, making it much easier to set up. This means that you will not have to compile the original source code, no need to set up all the programs and dependencies as you would else wise. When downloading a repack, you use another person's "work", which has been pre-compiled and been packed for you. With a WoW Repack, you will only need to download the files, open them in the right order, and you're (almost) ready to call yourself a GM on your server.

As you've recently learned, you will need to download a wow repack. If you're into the newer Expansions, you can grab a&nbsp;<a href="https://zremax.com/blog/shadowlands-wow-repack/" target="_blank" rel="author">Shadowlands Repack</a>. But let me inform you already, there are hundreds of different ones to choose from, and the quality varies a lot. Due to that, we have made an article on the&nbsp;Best&nbsp;<a href="https://zremax.com/wow-repacks" target="_blank" rel="author">WoW Repacks</a>&nbsp;for each Expansion. We suggest checking it out if you need inspiration. Keep in mind there are repacks for each expansion/version of the game, so make sure to decide what version of the game you want your own private server to have.

We now assume you've decided the version you want to play on, and found a repack you want to use, perhaps based on our article about it.

The next step is to set it up. In this case, we will be basing the setup on the famous Cataclysm Repack from Zremax. If you went with another repack, then no problems. It's a very similar process, so you can follow along either way.

Step 3.1.&nbsp;Download the WoW Repack files

Visit the topic related to the repack, and find the download link section. Download the following:

That is basically similar for all WoW repacks. You need the data files, which "controls" the in-game appearance such as the map and models, and then you need the database for creatures and so forth.

Step 3.2.&nbsp;Extracting the game files

After downloading, you need to un-extract them to your disk. You can choose where. The Vmaps, MMAPS, Maps, and DBC should however be extracted into the same folder as the "Release" folder, because they need to be "linked" together.

Step 3.3.&nbsp;Opening the WoW files in the right order.

Now, you will need to open the files in a certain order, or it will not run. Start by opening MySQL.bat from the _Server (Database) folder, and then you can run worldserver.exe and authserver.exe, which are found in the Release folder.

If you did everything correctly, it will now take around a minute to load up the .exe files you just opened. Now, you basically have your own running World of Warcraft Private Server. Cool right?

Logging in to your own home WoW Private Server

Of course,&nbsp; you want to be capable of playing too. Therefore, you need a&nbsp;<a href="https://zremax.com/wow-private-server-clients" target="_blank" rel="author">WoW Private Server Client</a>, in order to open the game. Click on our article, and find the game version that matches your repack, and download it.

Step 3.5.&nbsp;Change your realmlist.wtf file to work on your local server

After downloading, you will need to modify a file called Realmlist.wtf file, in order to play locally. Find it by opening the Client file, Data, enGB or enUS and open the file.Now download everything inside it, and change it to:set realmlist 127.0.0.1. Close and save the file afterward.

Launching the game to your free GM World of Warcraft Server

Now you're actually ready to go. Launch the client by opening the file: WoW.exe, and let it load.Afterward, you will of course need an account to log in. To do so, open up the already running worldserver.exe, and type this in the console:account create yourusername yourpassword yourpasswordNow, let's promote it to a GM so you can have your own GM WoW Private Server. Type this in the console, to do so:account set gmlevel 3 -1 yourusername

After doing so, you are capable of logging in, and you also have GM powers now! Now, you can play on a <a href="https://manatavern.com" target="_blank">WoW Private Server</a>. This means you have access to a lot of exciting commands, such as changing your level, adding yourself gear/item, modifying your gold and so much more. A review of Apollo-WoW (A Cataclysm Private Server)

Are you one of the many players, who are searching for a&nbsp;<a href="https://zremax.com/expansion/cataclysm-private-servers/">Cataclysm Private Server?</a>&nbsp;At this point, there aren't many Cata Servers to choose between, so you might as well pick the best server, right away.

If you have already searched for WoW Cataclysm Servers, then&nbsp;you might have heard of Apollo-WoW.&nbsp;If you haven't, then don't worry!&nbsp;We will cover Apollo-WoW from A to Z, and go through whether it's worth playing.&nbsp;

Apollo-WoW has two realms&nbsp;(Apollo 1, and Apollo 2). The one we will be reviewing and referring to, in this article, will be&nbsp;Apollo-WoW 2, simply because it's newest and has the highest population and activity, between the two realms.

<a href="https://zremax.com/server/twinstar-apollo-ii/">Apollo WoW</a>&nbsp;is founded by Twinstar.cz which is a Czech project that was built in 2009, and is still running. While the administrators of Apollo WoW are Czech, there is also a large amount of people from the community, who's international. You can expect that most of the players are international, and speaking English, while a smaller portion are indeed only speaking Czech.Twinstar is a project which calls themselves as a top European Server, because of the focus they have towards delivering quality, and doing it for free. The Twinstar project originally launched the 2th of December 2008, on the older patches.

Since then, Twinstar.cz have been opening and closing several realms - depending on when they died out. Currently, they offer Vanilla (Kronos), Cataclysm (Apollo),&nbsp;Apollo-2, and they claim that they are also working on a Mist of Pandaria project, according to their website. There's however no ETA on the MoP project of Twinstar, at this time.

Apollo-WoW - Cataclysm Server Information

The server has adjusted XP rates, which was something a lot of people wanted. Currently, the XP rate is 3x, and a command to set it to 1X (or 2X) rates, if you want to experience an authentic blizzlike experience. The 3X XP rates are enough for some players, while others complain that it's still not enough.

<a href="https://zremax.com/server/twinstar-apollo-ii/">Apollo-WoW</a>&nbsp;is a PvP realm, offering Vanity Items and Characters in their shop. There's no items (besides from Vanity) that can get bought in the shop, nor can gold be bought; that's a good sign, if you dislike pay-2-win servers.

Apollo considers themselves as a Blizzlike server, who do not show their population. Therefore, there's actually no one (besides from GM's/Admins) that know the actual population. Luckily, addons and tricks exists to at least get an insight in an estimated amount. Because for many, population is a gamebreaker. Based on several testings, the population of Apollo (2) is estimated to be around 700 during the lowest-times (mornings etc), and around 1500 during peak-hours (evenings etc). It is one of the most populated/biggest&nbsp;<a href="https://zremax.com/expansion/cataclysm-private-servers/">Cataclysm Private Servers</a>, if not the biggest one.

Regarding languages, Apollo has several channels available. They have a&nbsp;world, a&nbsp;character auction, and a&nbsp;global channel.In the&nbsp;world&nbsp;and character auction&nbsp;channels English, Czech and Slovak languages can be spoken. Keep that in mind - it's not a fully international server. The&nbsp;global&nbsp;channel is however strictly set to English only.

<a href="https://zremax.com/server/twinstar-apollo-ii/">Apollo-WoW</a>&nbsp;has three different realmlists available. Apollo might actually be the only server to offer that. The purpose is that you can get a different/better MS latency depending on which realmlist you are closest to. The realmlists of Apollo-WoW can be seen below:

You have to choose one of them, as your realmlist. We recommend that you try them all three, and check which of the realmlist's you experience the best latency with. The closer you live to the server, the better latency you will have.

Apollo - Scripting quality &amp; management

If you are concerned about quality on Cataclysm, you won't go wrong with Apollo. Currently, it might be the best WoW Cataclysm server - in terms of scripting and quality at least.

Before joining this server, you should know that the community (the wow players) of&nbsp;<a href="https://zremax.com/server/twinstar-apollo-ii/">Apollo-WoW</a>&nbsp;have complained about the management, and staff members of Apollo WoW. In particular about the community manager, and admin, called Faldal. Supposedly, he has been abusing his GM power and commands. The server is quite controversy because of these issues. For some, staff abuse is a total dealbreaker, which has led to a decision where many people has left the server, and is waiting for the next big WoW Cataclysm Server to arrive.

The 29th of August 2020, the server released and opened up for 4.2 content (Rage of the Firelands). As a result, you can experience Firelands. A new boss in Baradin Hold was added too, among other things.

After they have fully progressed and launched their 4.3.4 WoW Cata Server, rumors claim that they will launch their Mist of Pandaria realm, which they have been working on for years now. If you're a fan of MoP, you might hope that these rumors become true. If you're just into Cataclysm, you might hope that a third WoW Apollo Cataclysm will be again.

Initially, when Blizzard was offering World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, there was no need for a TBC Client, because Blizzard provided you with their official TBC download. The time for that has however passed ages ago because Blizzard no longer offers TBC. Therefore, in order to play TBC, you need to be playing on&nbsp;<a href="https://zremax.com/expansion/tbc-private-servers/">TBC Private Servers</a>. But in order to get in-game, you need to download a TBC Client which is based on Blizzard's original game client files from TBC 2.x and are then a little modified to launch the client for the TBC server.

The size of the TBC Client Downloads is usually around 20 GB. That may appear like a lot, but a lot of the game data is handled on the TBC Client, so you do need a lot of data stored in order to play the game successfully.
