We are excited to announce Frostmourne, a fresh Wrath of the Lich King realm coming to Stormforge. This realm is an informal continuation of Whitemane’s Frostmourne, created in collaboration and powered by WhitemaneCore. It offers a brand-new start enriched with unique features, modern quality-of-life upgrades, and custom systems designed to enhance both PvE and PvP gameplay.
Frostmourne will launch on October 3, 2025, running on the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. The realm is configured as Normal (PvE), offering a smoother and more relaxed gameplay environment compared to traditional PvP servers. Leveling is faster thanks to an x5 experience rate, giving players the chance to progress quickly while still preserving the authentic feel of WotLK content.
The realm introduces a wide range of modern conveniences that make the journey through Northrend more enjoyable without taking away its classic character. Players will have access to dungeon and raid maps, which provide better navigation through complex encounters (hello, Wailing Caverns!). Looting becomes far more efficient with the introduction of AoE looting, and questing as a group is smoother than ever thanks to party-shared quest item drops. These and many other subtle improvements ensure that Frostmourne feels like a fresh yet familiar experience.
Frostmourne is more than just a new start - it redefines core systems of Wrath of the Lich King. Raid lockouts for Tier 7 and Tier 8 have been reworked to create a more approachable raiding environment. PvP receives a complete overhaul with the Conquest system, replacing the outdated weekly arena flush. Instead, players will earn Conquest directly, with a weekly cap that increases as the season progresses.
In addition, a brand-new raid set in Karazhan will be introduced. This is not a rehash of the familiar Burning Crusade content, but a completely new adventure within the haunted tower. Players can expect entirely new bosses, a fresh loot table, and - most importantly - new lore that ties Karazhan into the events of Wrath of the Lich King in ways never seen before.
Alongside Karazhan, Frostmourne will also feature a completely new dungeon difficulty called Ascended, very popular on the first iteration of the realm,, the introduction of new legendary items, and possible class design updates. We remain open to subtle balance changes and improvements, such as a suggested update to Omen of Clarity.
We see Frostmourne as Wrath of the Lich King Rebuffed - or, simply, WotLK+. Our goal is to preserve the essence of the original expansion while not being afraid to stir things up. The core gameplay will remain true to what players loved most about Wrath: dungeons, raids, battlegrounds, and arenas.
At the same time, WotLK+ introduces fresh twists. We want to slightly shift the meta, introduce new ideas, and shake things up without ever turning the game into a recycled Timewalking experience. Instead, this is Wrath as you remember it - nostalgic and familiar, but with just enough new flavor to make it exciting again.
We will actively listen to player feedback, and we’re not afraid to implement bold changes - or roll them back if they don’t resonate. Frostmourne is meant to be both a love letter to Wrath of the Lich King and a step forward, offering a version of Northrend that feels both classic and new.
